The International Symposium is the world's premier conference on the research, development and application of fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) reinforcement for concrete and other structures.  It is being held in the American, European and Asian continents on a biennial rotation basis.  

Following the highly successful event in Vancouver, Canada (1993), Ghent, Belgium (1995), Sapporo, Japan (1997), Baltimore, USA (1999) and Cambridge, UK (2001), the 6th International Symposium on Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) Reinforcement for Concrete Structures (FRPRCS-6) will be held in Singapore in July 2003.  

The FRPRCS-6 International Symposium marks the 10th anniversary since the first symposium in 1993.  The first era from the late eighties to the mid-nineties saw the advancement and application of FRP rods and tendons in reinforced and prestressed concrete structures.  In the second era from the mid-nineties to the last two years, significant works had been accomplished in the area of FRP sheets in structural retrofitting of concrete structures.  

The FRPRCS-6 Symposium will signify the beginning of a third era in which new materials other than glass, aramid and carbon FRP, other forms of FRP such as pultruded sections, applications in other than concrete structures such as masonry and steel structures, and discussion on long-term performance, would be expected.
