DESIGN
AND APPLICATION OF FIBRE REINFORCED POLYMER (FRP) REINFORCEMENT FOR CONCRETE
STRUCTURES
25 - 26 October 2001, National University of Singapore, Singapore 29 - 30 October 2001, Kuala Lumpur, Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (This course is a revamp of a previous course on Design, Construction and Repair of Concrete Structures using Continuous FRP Materials, that has been previously conducted in May 1998 & May 1999, Singapore; Dec 1999, Kuching, Sarawak) Course Objective Fibre-reinforced polymers (FRP) utilising high performance continuous fibres such as carbon, aramid and glass are increasingly being used in the construction industry, especially in the area of repair and strengthening of existing concrete structures. Besides having a low unit weight which render them suitable for use in a labour-scarce industry, they possess high strength and high corrosion resistance, and are therefore useful for structures subjected to harsh environmental effects. The main objectives of this course are:
Target Audience Practising engineers and designers who wish to deepen and broaden their understanding of high-performance continuous fibre-reinforcing materials, researchers and teachers involved in the field of structural concrete, and professionals from public works, building and transportation authorities who are involved in decisions regarding construction, maintenance and rehabilitation of concrete structures. Course Outline 1.
Types and Properties of FRP Materials and Systems
2. Design and Construction of Externally Bonded FRP Systems for Strengthening Concrete Structures
3. Desig and Construction of FRP-Reinforced Concrete
