Make your posting any time after the first lecture and before the second lecture on poetry. Reply to any one of the following questions:
1. Respond to any one of the Singapore poems in the course pack which you found interesting, indicating why you feel this way.
2. Poetry in Singapore has grown in popularity in Singapore over the past ten years, with events such as Poetry Slam, and internet sites such as Cyril Wong's Softblow, Alvin Pang's Poetry Billboard as well as more traditional poetry readings and the publication of collections. Visit Softblow, Poetry Billboard or the online Gallery of Younger Poets at the Literature, Culture and Society of Singapore website (note that the first two of these sites include poetry from outside Singapore, so make sure you read a writer from Singapore or dealing with Singaopore subject matter). From your reading, what ways do you think poetry by a younger generation is different from its predecessors?
3. Respond to, develop, or critique a point made in a previous lecture or tutorial which you'd like discussed more.
4. Respond to a classmate's posting.
5. If you've read One Fierce Hour, how do you think Alfian Sa'at's poetry compares with that of poets who preceded him?
