Debate: Peer Feedback

Peer rating of debate:

After the debating session has ended, questions will be asked on the following:

Your response to each of the questions will be on a likert scale of A to E: 'A' being the most favourable, and 'E' being the least favourable. (All the questions below carry equal weightage).

  1. Was the purpose of the debate and the team's stance clearly presented?
  2. Was the content of the debating points well organised by each member of the team?
  3. Were the points and arguments convincingly backed by evidence?
  4. Was there a smooth progression of the ideas, observations and arguments between members of the team?
  5. To what extent was critical thinking evident in the arguments of each team member and the team as a whole?
  6. How well was the team able to politely and respectfully rebut the arguments of the opposing team?
  7. How well did the team respond to the questions or arguments from the floor?
  8. How was the delivery? (eg. voice quality, audibility, movements, gestures, attempt at eye-contact, etc.)
  9. How was the group dynamics like (eg. coordination and cooperation between members of the group)?
  10. Overall, did you find the team's debating during the session interesting? Or did you find it boring?

Any feedback on the above criteria is welcome.

Winner?

A question will be asked on which team wins the debate. This is a survey question in both directions: in relation to those who give feedback and those who receive it. It has no impact on the rating of the teams for the CA. The questions in the above section are more important than the decision on who the winners are.
