I am a theoretical linguist. Are you curious about what linguistics is?
My research interests are:
Primary: Theoretical issues in phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics.
Secondary :Structure of South Asian languages (particularly Malayalam), English, and second language systems. I have recently developed an interest in Southeast Asian languages, particularly Chinese (Mandarin, Hokkien, CantoneseÖ) and Malay.
I am also interested in topics like the epistemology of scientific inquiry, comparative epistemology of academic discilpines, critical thinking, and education. These interests are tied up with my preoccupation with the foundations of theoretical linguistics.
Students who are thinking of me as a potential supervisor may be interested in taking a look at
the profile of K.P.Mohanan as a supervisor.
Links to people with similar interests: Joan Bresnan, John Goldsmith, Tara Mohanan. If you are interested in linguistics and you haven't visited Chris Manning's guide to the best
linguistic resources on the web, I strongly urge you to do so right now.
