Discussion Groups

Discussion groups will be conducted online through the IVLE over the course of a week (Monday-Sunday). Each group will have its own Discussion Forums on the IVLE.  Go to the IVLE in sign in to one of the class groups (I will explain how to do this in lecture 2). For each discussion session at least one student will be responsible for leading the discussion.

Unless you are leading the discussion in a particular week you will not need to physically attend but you must sign on to the IVLE Discussion Forum at some stage during the week and contribute. Participation is worth 25% of your final grade. If you do not contribute I will have no information to assess you (I have no way of knowing that you have "attended" the tutorial unless you post a message) and you will receive zero. Please see Discussion Criteria for a guide as to what I expect.

We will discuss discussion session arrangements in more detail at the second lecture.

After enrolling in a discussion group and before January 19 students should select a week in which they would like to lead the discussion, from the list below, and e-mail me their choice.

Generally students should pick a discussion topic that is related to their essay topic.
