Academic profile

Anil Kishen graduated with Bachelor of Dental Surgery (B.D.S) followed by Master of Dental Surgery (M.D.S) from the University of Madras, India and TN Medical University, Madras, India. Subsequently, received his Ph.D. degree (2002) from the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in the field of Biomedical Engineering.

He is presently an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Dentistry, National University of Singapore (NUS). He is the group leader for the Dentine Biophotonics Research Group at the Faculty of Dentistry, NUS.

His research interest is mainly in two areas:   (1) Dentine (structure-mechanical property relationship & dentine-microbial interactions) &      (2) Biophotonics (photomechanics, optical spectroscopy (biosensors), Light Activated Therapy).
