Upper reach of the Pandan River

The concretized canal stretches all the way to the Bukit Batok Park (approximately 36 ha), one of its source tributaries in Bukit Timah Hill. A very short stretch of the river left as less human intervened stream. Low base flow, which is supplied by subsurface flow, is seen in the natural streams (Plate XIV). The Park is covered by trees which bear resemblance of primary rainforest, inhabited by several flora and fauna species. The cemented canals are hard for most of aquatic organisms to live, whereas the natural stream provides good habitats for aquatic life as fish (Clip 3).
