Apart from collecting water , river also collects solid materials (mainly sediment) from its catchment (drainage basin or watershed). The load of a river is mainly derived from weathering, mass wasting and surface erosion. This includes suspended load, bedload and dissolved load. Weathering and erosion are the main processes that contribute to the load of rivers in Singapore.
